Follow Your Heart Premieres Next Week in Toronto

On the way to Toronto for the final week of rehearsals and the premiere of the production, “Follow Your Heart” at the Harbourfront centre .
I’ve been working with Evolution Dance Theatre for 2 years on this show – the passion and visions of the cast and crew of nearly 60 individuals is something I am honored to be a part of.

“The strength of the team is each individual member. The strength of each member is the team.” ― Phil Jackson

If you can make it to Toronto for any of the show dates, May 8th-11th, I guarantee this will be a one-of-a-kind multicultural, multidisciplinary spectacle. Be sure to holler at me if you’re there!

Ice Dancers Meryl Davis and Charlie White Compete for Olympic Gold Today

I was fortunate enough to have been a consultant on the Free Dance program “Scheherazade” performed by Meryl Davis and Charlie White. They are in the final competition today on NBC at 10AM EST – and they are gearing up to take the Gold. Proud that they are Michigan-based and proud that belly dance has had an opportunity to influence an Olympic sport.

Workshop Descriptions:

Social Style
All Level 1-hour workshop
You’ve got your own style so why not let it shine through in your dance? Enjoy the moment and let the music move you in this casual, cardio-filled workshop. We’ll review some basic, up-beat movements found in Middle Eastern belly dance with less of a focus on technique and more emphasis on fun All Levels Welcome.

Watch Your Tone

In this workshop, we’ll focus on developing expression, posture, and stage presence as ways to determine the “tonality” and mood of the message you want to convey.

Public Classes No Longer Available… Inquire for Private Lessons and Workshops

After a year at FAB Music and Dance School, I will no longer be teaching public classes until further notice.

I am so grateful for the opportunity FAB has provided for me to teach classic styles of Raqs Sharqi and provide some Middle Eastern dance education along with dance training – something that is rare these days in the bellydance world. The students that have dedicated their time and energy are the fuel that kept me going – literally. I feel privileged to have exchanged dance experiences with them all as they taught me alot and it brightened my week to spend time with them. Stay tuned to what’s happening at FAB School as they undergo major changes for progress in early 2014!
